DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH
October is one of the biggest months for Alpha Chi Omega. Domestic Violence Awareness shapes our chapters activities for the entire month.
To start the month off, we had a DVA workshop hosted by our VP of Philanthropy Emily Ewry. Emily helped educated our chapter about recent statistics, events and ways we can inform our community about Domestic Violence. The following week we had a tabling event. During this event members from our chapter spent time in the Student Union handing out flyers, stickers, and purple ribbons to fellow falcons. We used this event to get the word around about Domestic Violence and also spread the word about our upcoming Domestic Violence Speaker. Some of our sisters also took time out of their days to shop for items that The Cocoon had requested.

The girls spent some time together on a Monday night shopping for the items at Meijer. The had a blast and The Cocoon always appreciates the support. At no cost to the community, Alpha Chi Omega Beta Phi hosted a representative from the Cocoon, a local Domestic Violence and Sexual Violence center, to speak to about myths and facts of Domestic Violence. Other members from the Greek community joined us to learn and grow from this event. Sunday October 20th, Beta Phi hosted GI Chi. A philanthropy event to help raise money for The Cocoon. Many Greek Community members and a team of ROTC members came to compete to win the title of Ultimate GI Chi. To end Domestic Violence Awareness month, the sisters of Alpha Chi came together at our house on campus to have a DVA Movie Night where we watched the movie Girl on the Train.
